How Durable are Metal Prints? How do I Clean Them?
Vivid Metal Prints are the longest lasting photo medium. They last three times longer than high quality photo paper under glass. You can dust or clean them with a lint free or microfiber cloth. To clean, we recommend using isopropyl alcohol and a lint free cloth. On the glossy finish you can even clean it with Maguire’s car cleaner wax! The only thing we do not recommend is displayingthe prints in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
How do I know what finish to choose?
White Ultra-Gloss is our #1 seller and it provides a bright and vibrant finish. You can Click Here to see a video about our 5 finish options. If you are unsure of what finish to use, we will gladly give you a finish recommendation. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org a low-res image attached and we will gladly give you a recommendation.
Do you make Proofs?
Yes we do and unlike our competitors, we proof on metal to assure your print will look fabulous. If you want to see the proof for yourself, order a proof (size is approx. 8 x 12) for $25 so you can be sure you’re pleased with how your image will reproduce prior to final production. This option is offered in the online order process. This proof will be a full-resolution print of a sample area of your image, with the same aluminum finish you’ve chosen for the final print. You can then request any printing adjustments, if necessary. Our technicians will be glad to work with you to fine tune the color, balance, sharpness, and any other criteria just the way you want it. Proofs ship 2-3 days after payment is received.
What file types do you accept? What Color Space do you work in?
We prefer TIFF but we accept a wide range of formats including PSD, TIFF, RAW, JPEG and more. We accept 8 and 16-bit files. We work in the Adobe RBG 1998 color space so be sure to watch your gamut warning.
What file size do I need?
Typically, 300 dpi, at size/printing resolution, works best. In general, the larger the file size the better the quality. However, file size does not necessarily determine photo quality. Send your file in and we will let you know if it will look great for the size you ordered.
A very poor resolution file can be saved with enough dpi/layers to create a HUGE file that will not necessarily look any better.
Note: Taking a file that is at 120dpi at 16 x 24, and then just manually changing the 120 to 300 will not improve resolution of the image.
What's included in the price?
The prices you see on the Order Page include in-house proofing on metal, imaging onto aluminum, framing with hanging wire and packaging for up to an approximately 36″ x 48” print. Anything larger than 36″ x 48” will have the cost for a custom wooden crate added in the shopping cart.
